Binocular vision
The combining of the image coming from two eyes and perceiving it as one image is called Binocular Vision
There are the grades of binocular vision, based on which the two eyes form the image.
In simple terms, both eye receives the image from different angles (due to lateral positioning of the eye). The retina of both the eyes further transfers the image to visual cortex (present in occipital lobe of the brain). Here the combining of images takes place. There are three grades of binocular vision. The first grade, simultaneous perception, makes the two dissimilar object combine. The second grade, fusion, is all about fusing the the two images according to the previous memory. Then the third grade, stereopsis, is how the brain perceives the actual position from the apparently viewed position of image and depth of the object. Combined vision is formed on the basis of these three grades.
All this happens just in a fraction of seconds.
As you know the development of vision and growth are taking place simultaneously so if because of some reasons the visual input to one eye by covering or because of some other reasons the visual input is obstructed till the age of 8 Years the brain will adopt as there is no second eye and you repair the visual input after 8 Y there is no coming back of Binocular vision, after 8 years the recovery is rare but after age 10 Y almost impossible
